MAPPA and the Original Creator are silent on Banana Fish season 2’s release date. Five years have passed, raising doubts.

A second season’s viability depends on Ash’s role. But as shown in the last episode of season one, Ash, our main character, is dead.

Is he truly gone? Some fans are defiant about admitting what they saw. His death sparks questions—no blood, an unfair end. Perhaps Ash and Eiji will reunite, but predictions remain uncertain.

The manga ended with the exact same conclusion to Ash and Eiji’s story, so it is time to admit that we will not be seeing Ash in another season.

Is There Enough Source Material For A Sequel?

The main story of the manga has been completely adapted into anime. The manga has a total of 19 Volumes and 110 Chapters. It started serialization on April 13, 1985, and officially ended on March 12, 1994.

However, there is a side story called “Private Opinion: Banana Fish Another Story,” which the author published a year after the manga’s main story ended.

This side story has only one volume but has two chapters: Private Garden and Fly Boy, In the Sky. While this won’t be enough to make another 12 episode anime, there is enough content to get at least a 2-3 episode OVA series.

They are also known as the epilogue, “Garden of Light,” and the prequel, “Angel Eyes.”

As of August 2023, we do not have any news on the second season of Banana Fish. So, there is no place where you can watch it.

However, if we get a sequel in the form of another season or an OVA, we can expect it to be updated on Amazon Prime Video. Because, they already have the first season available to stream, it makes sense that they will add any newer episodes to their library.
