1. Oetsu Nimaiya, the Creator of Zanpakuto (Bleach)
Nimaiya is one of the latest characters introduced in Bleach TYBW arc. He is an eccentric man with very odd hobby.
He has his own floating island above the shinigami realm, and he is one of the protectors of the Soul King. Because of this status, he is not normally allowed to help the shinigami even when they’re in deep trouble.
But let’s get back into the topic. Nimaiya is listed here because he is one hell of a blacksmith character who can create sentient weapons. He is responsible for creating zanpakuto.

2. Totosai, the Demonic Blacksmith (Inuyasha)
Totosai is an elderly humanoid ykai swordsmith who forged Tessaiga and Tenseiga from the fangs of his old friend, Tga. He is eccentric, insane, and senile, and is protective of his blades. He is concerned for his life and refuses to do anything immoral, but has a strong sense of honor.
Totosai is able to craft blades, lock/unlock powers, and repair other weapons, but cannot repair poisonous weapons. He can only restore them to their original appearance, but it would become brittle due to the poison.

Apparantly, Dwarfs are the best blacksmiths in all of fiction. It is the same in the case of Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy. Beren is an elder dwarf who currently one of the blacksmiths in the world. He is loyal to Makoto, the MC, and wants to be relied on by him.
What makes Beren special is that he has two skills. One is “Blacksmith” and the other is “Appraisal”.
The Blacksmith skill allows him to forge high quality items and equipments. The Appraisal skill allows him to analyze the quality of an equipment at the first sight.
Besides his role as a craftsman, he is also a semi-decent fighter. His fighting style is to use a variety of equipment’s and tools with effects and aim for a decisive strike with his axe.

Giryou from Ushio & Tora is a crazy blacksmith character who sacrificed his life to create a spear.
Not only that, he also sacrificed the life of his sister to make it. That is how much he was devoted to the art of smithing. But that his pride as a blacksmith is not what drove him to create the weapon that was forged from human sacrifice.
He lived in ancient time in China where a yokai called the “Hakumen no Mono” emerged from. The yokai caused a lot of bloodshed and killed Giryou’s parents.
It was trying to end the world and was an enemy to both the demons and humans. What’s more terrifying is that none of the human weapons can slay the monster.
This is why Giryou used the forbidden blacksmithing technique to sacrifice human souls to create a weapon blessed by the gods.
At the end, Giryou’s body became a part of the spear and his maddening lust for revenge made the spear powerful. His sister became a spirit whose body was also used as a material for the spear.

9. Mosuke Gave His Life for the Art of Smithing (Shaman King)
Mosuke was a legendary swordsmith who created the invincible “Harusame” blade for his master. However, at the start of the series, he is just a spirit who possesses a sword.
Later, he becomes one of Yoh Asakura’s allies. Back in the days, he was very close with his friend Amidamaru. They grew up together, honed their skills together and were very loyal to each other.
One day, they presented their sword and services to a local lord, who hired them. Everything was going well, and Mosuke made the strongest blade for his new lord. However, the lord did not want him to make another sword with the same level of excellence. So, he asked Amidamaru to kill him.
On the other hand, Mosuke had gotten the Harusame back to reforge it, make it even better, and give it to Amidamaru.
Since they were close friends, Amidamaru ignored the lords request. So the lord sent men to kill them. After his death, Mosuke’s spirit refused to leave Harusame’s side until he could return the sword to Amidamru.
